Ever since the use of content written by AI has become popular, the debate between AI-generated content and human content has become a topic of discussion. AI Content is any content written by the use of artificial intelligence tools. AI content stands out because it is fast to produce and creates content within seconds. Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Jasper, and many other AI tools help to write the content.

AI Content vs Human Content: Which Content Does Google Prefer?

Well, there is no defined answer when it comes to whose content does Google prefer. Google itself says that it does not penalize the AI content completely.

​“Using AI doesn’t give you a ranking advantage or disadvantage. Content is evaluated based on its value to people, not how it was produced.”, said in a statement by Google officials.

​So, from here, we come to know that Google does not care whether the content is written by an AI or a human. It does not count it as an evaluation or ranking factor. Rather than the content is evaluated on the basis of its quality and what value it adds to the readers.

​It is thought that Google does not rank the AI content, but actually, it is not so. Even AI content can rank if it meets quality standards. Google only prefers content that meets its quality guidelines, rather than preferring human content or AI content.

​As we all know that SEO is an important factor for content to rank on Google. But sometimes AI content fails to meet the SEO requirements, and that’s where the human content  takes the points. AI fails to understand the complete context in some cases, ignoring the keyword placement and writing the content in a generic way without understanding the audience. Human, whereas knowing who the target audience is and their mindset can help write more accurately in this case.​

Google evaluates the content on the basis of the E-E-A-T framework. No doubt AI can generate content at a much faster rate than human content, but it does not completely fulfill the E-E-A-T standards. E-E-A-T frameworks demand experience, expertise, authority, and trustworthiness, which AI content may not be able to fulfill all the time. With AI content, it is difficult to show experience and expertise, whereas human contact can easily match this criteria.

Human content

Well, the answer to this question is human and AI collaboration. Rather completely relying on human content or AI content, it’s better if you use both in a smart way. For some tasks, you can use humans, and for some tasks, you can take AI help. You can use AI for brainstorming, getting new ideas, creating outlines for your content, topic ideas, etc, and leverage humans to do keyword research,  create full-fledged content which includes case studies, examples based on real-life experience, to verify facts and optimize for SEO.

Remember that AI is a tool, so you can not completely rely on it. For things like verifying facts and information, you need human assistance. AI can be very helpful in the field of content creation, but it can never excel human content.​

Google prefers the content that highlights quality and usefulness, doesn’t matter whether it’s written by AI or humans. But as discussed earlier, AI content sometimes lacks such quality and usefulness, so it’s better that you use a combination of AI content and human content.
